Being a Firefighter...
Being a Volunteer Firefighter is a very strenuous job. The thing to know when joining this field of work is that you must commit to a twenty-four hour, three hundred sixty five day a year schedule. They must present themselves to work no matter what the weather or holiday it is a job that must be done. Firefighters are on call all day in case of emergencies such as: grass fires, structure fires, explosions, toxic waste spills, and other tasks that the force on duty can't control and maintain.
Volunteer Firefighters work an average of 20 hours per week, plus their regular jobs! One of the jobs a firefighter must carry out is to educate the public on fire safety and prevention. Maintaining and keeping the station and vehicles in top-notch condition is a must so firefighters take shifts cleaning floors and checking the condition of the trucks. They must study and go over plans that they have been training to make sure they are on point and prepared for any situation.
These are only some of the duties that firefighters must carry out during the course of the day or night but at any time they can be interrupted for an emergency.
Firefighters put their lives out on the line everyday they go to work.
